Building Skills Through Participation
Our activities are designed to provide more than entertainment. They create opportunities for people to learn, practise skills, build confidence and develop greater independence.
Through participation, individuals may develop:
- Communication and social skills
- Teamwork and cooperation
- Decision-making and problem-solving
- Confidence and self-esteem
- Planning and organisational skills
- Practical and everyday living skills
- Independence and self-advocacy
We encourage participants to take an active role in activities wherever possible, with support adjusted to their individual abilities and goals.
Person-Centred Group Activities
Although our programs are delivered in a group or centre-based environment, we recognise that every person is unique.
We take the time to understand each individual's interests, strengths, preferences and goals and encourage meaningful participation at their own pace. Our team creates opportunities for people to try new activities, discover interests, build friendships and experience a sense of belonging.
A Place to Connect, Learn and Belong
At GWDS, we want our group and centre-based programs to be places where people feel welcomed, valued, respected and included.
Whether someone is learning a new skill, enjoying a creative activity, making a new friend or participating in a community outing, we aim to create experiences that contribute to a fulfilling and valued life.
Love in Action. Truth in Everything We Do.
Creating meaningful connections. Building skills. Celebrating abilities. Empowering people to learn, participate and belong.
